Terms of Service

1. About Eb3t

Eb3t is a messaging service. You use it to send messages, photos, videos, voice notes, documents and other files to other people who use Eb3t.

• Your messages are end-to-end encrypted. They are encrypted on your device and decrypted on the device of the person you send them to. We cannot read them.
• We run our own servers in Egypt. Where information leaves Egypt, our Privacy Policy names where and why.
• There is no advertising in Eb3t.

Our Privacy Policy explains what information we handle and what we are unable to see. It forms part of these Terms.

Eb3t is free for personal use. You are responsible for the data plan and any fees your mobile carrier or internet provider charges you for using it.

2. Privacy and your information

Our Privacy Policy explains the information we collect, how we use it, and what we cannot access because your messages are end-to-end encrypted. By using Eb3t you agree to our Privacy Policy.

Some choices in Eb3t are optional. You may accept or decline them without losing access to the service, you are asked about them separately, and you can change them later in Settings.

3. Who may use Eb3t

• You must be at least 15 years old to use Eb3t.
• You must not be barred from using Eb3t under any law that applies to you.
• You must not use Eb3t if we have previously terminated your account for breaking these Terms, unless we agree otherwise in writing.
• You must register using a valid mobile phone number. We send a one-time code to that number by SMS to confirm it is yours.

4. Acceptable use

You are responsible for the content you send, and you must use Eb3t only for lawful purposes. You must not use Eb3t (or assist anyone else in using it) to:

• (a) break any law that applies to you;
• (b) send, request or share child sexual abuse material;
• (c) impersonate any person, or misrepresent your affiliation with a person or organisation;
• (d) harass, threaten, intimidate or defame any person;
• (e) send bulk or automated messages, or unsolicited commercial messages, except through a business account under the terms that apply to those accounts;
• (f) distribute malware, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to any device, account or server;
• (g) collect information about other users by automated means, including by automating contact discovery;
• (h) reverse-engineer, decompile or attempt to extract the source code of Eb3t, except where that restriction is unenforceable under a law that applies to you;
• (i) interfere with the service, including by circumventing rate limits, spam controls or account restrictions;
• (j) create or register accounts by automated means;
• (k) misuse the in-app reporting tools, including by submitting reports you know to be false.

You are responsible for keeping your device and your account secure, and for notifying us promptly of any unauthorised use of your account.

5. Your content and licence to us

You keep all rights in the messages and files you send. We do not claim any ownership of your content.

To operate the service, you grant us a limited licence to store, transmit and reproduce your content solely to deliver it and to provide the features you use. This licence lasts only as long as we need it for that purpose. It does not permit us to publish your content, license it to others, or use it to train any model.

Eb3t itself — including the software, the Eb3t name and the design — belongs to us. These Terms do not grant you any right in it beyond using the service.

6. Third-party services

Some parts of Eb3t rely on services we do not operate. Where they exist, they are named in our Privacy Policy, including the push-notification service that wakes the app on your phone, which is provided by your device's manufacturer or its software provider.

Media you send is delivered through S3-compatible object storage operated by a third party (currently Cloudflare R2) whose infrastructure is outside Egypt. Every file is encrypted on your device before it leaves it, and is deleted from that storage within 30 days. This is how the service works for everyone. Our Privacy Policy describes this flow in full. The terms of these third parties apply to them, not to us.

7. Reporting and safety

You can report a message, user or group from inside the app. A report sends us the reported content because you chose to send it; that is the only way message content reaches us.

Any automated scanning we perform applies only to content that is readable to our servers. It cannot be applied to your end-to-end encrypted messages.

If you believe content on Eb3t infringes your copyright or trademark, contact us at the address in §12 with enough detail to identify the content and your rights in it.

8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

Eb3t is provided "as is". We do not warrant that it will be available, uninterrupted or error-free, and we do not control what other users say or do. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express or implied.

Eb3t is not a substitute for your phone. It does not provide access to emergency services — you cannot reach the police, ambulance, fire services or hospitals through Eb3t. Keep an ordinary way of making emergency calls.

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for any loss of profits, revenue or data.

Where Egyptian law permits us to limit our liability, our total liability to you for all claims arising out of or relating to these Terms in any twelve-month period will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for Eb3t in that period, or (b) EGP 5,000.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for fraud, gross negligence, death or personal injury, or any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded under Egyptian law.

9. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify us against reasonable costs we incur in defending any claim brought against us arising out of your use of Eb3t, including the content you send or any law you break, except to the extent the claim arises from our own breach or negligence.

10. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the courts of Egypt have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to them.

11. Availability, suspension and termination

• We may change or discontinue features of Eb3t. Where a change materially reduces what Eb3t does, we will give notice in the app before it takes effect, where we reasonably can.
• We may suspend or terminate your account if you break these Terms, if the law requires it, or if it is necessary to protect other users. Where we can tell you the reason without defeating its purpose, we will.
• We may delete an account that is never used after registration, or that has not connected to the service for an extended period. Where we can notify you first, we will.
• You may stop using Eb3t and delete your account from inside the app at any time. Deleting your account removes your account information, your message history on our servers, and your group memberships. Our Privacy Policy sets out what survives deletion.

12. Changes to these Terms, and how to reach us

We will notify you in the app before material changes to these Terms take effect, and the version above will change. Your consent is recorded against a specific version, so a new version means you are asked again rather than bound silently.

13. Other terms

• These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about Eb3t, and they replace any earlier agreement.
• If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, that part is read as narrowly as the law allows, and the rest of the Terms stays in force.
• If we do not enforce a term, that is not a waiver of it.
• We may assign these Terms to a successor that takes them on as they stand; we will notify you in the app before that takes effect. You may not assign your account or these Terms to anyone else.
• §5, §8, §9 and §10 survive the closure of your account.
• If you send us ideas or suggestions about Eb3t, we may use them without restriction or payment. Do not send suggestions you wish to keep rights in.
